Add Zsmoke smoke detector
Add the new Zsmoke smoke alarm from First Alert as a device with level values of "Fire" or "Clear". Or something along those lines.
I don't know if the following would be helpful:
The z-wave command class for alarms (i.e. COMMANDCLASSALARM) to be precise.
The z-wave conformance statement for the ZSMOKE is at http://products.z-wavealliance.org/products/863/pics and the ZCOMBO is at http://products.z-wavealliance.org/products/862/pics
Initial alpha release is ready with this device. Available in version 3.89+ (http://www.incontrolzwave.com/page/Download.aspx). As this is an alpha, please notify us of your use of this version and if you experience any problems.

Soooo.... I'm trying to get these smoke alarms i bought to actually work with my incontrol and they dont. I have them visible on my in control Devices but they dont do crap when they go off. Can some one please tell me how to get these working? I didnt pay for these special zcombo things and this software for them to do nothing when they actually alarm.

so I change my mind on code 13... to me its acting like its some kind of idle state. It goes to 13... if I test it will go to 12 then to 0 for off. About 30 minutes later it goes back to 13 and stays there. I can turn it off via the incontrol software or my phone but then again 30 minutes later it will go to code 13. At least I know code 1 is for smoke and then code 0 is when the alarm turns off.

Also how do you setup for an email alert without using a rule? I can use a rule to send an alert which is great but the software keeps warning me that support for it is going away. What I really love about it is I can use the current device state script and I can see if its 13, 12, or 1 and if it turns off.

So I finally got one today, it seems code 13 is some random test that it does at least thats what I think. Code 12 is when you do a manual test. Code 1 is smoke... at least on the only smoke device. I haven't tested my combo one yet. Has anyone else seen the same results?

I currently have the smoke only version but was looking at getting the combo for another part of my house. I can say that the scene I had previously set up, to see if it would work before you formally added this device, was triggering about every 12 hours. I checking the trigger and everything looked fine, but I finally just removed the existing trigger and added it back. For some reason that fixed my issue. That scene has't triggered since. I currently have the trigger set when the smoke alarm changes to level 255, is this correct?
Since I'm a little paranoid, I will have to make sure it will actually trigger the scene when the alarm goes off. My previous tests have involved burning leafs and cardboard in an outside fire pit and holding the alarm over it. I'm sure I look like a crazy person, especially when the alarm stats beeping, but at least I'll know it works. Though it's probably better then the time I was setting up by garage controls and stood in front of my garage door, opening and closing it for 15 minutes while staring at my cell phone.

@Tom - I'm finding that my ZCOMBO sends me bogus alarms with a code of "13" - it seems to happen every 12 hours, so it must be something they did intentionally, but the alarm itself doesn't beep. Does yours do this?
Also, they used their own made up codes (as opposed to using the codes provided by the z-wave alliance), so I have no way of knowing what each code actually means.
I plan on changing the interface to show the code #, so at least we have a way to distinguish them apart.

Is there a way to determine if it's a fire or CO detection that is triggering the alarm?
-
@Steven - Yes, that would be way cool! Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way built into the device to allow this. That would be something that First Alert would need to allow for.

It would also be great if the InControl allowed for the smoke/CO detectors to be tested remotely through one's smartphone so that one wouldn't have to step up on a footstool to test each detector. Alternatively, I would set it up so that they automatically test themselves at a given time each week.

Hi,
They are hiding it under the new Lowes Iris products. You can check your local store too, but not all of them have that display set up yet.

Hey Tom -
Thanks for the recommendation. I've been looking around for this smoke detector but I'm unsure of where to purchase it. Can you provide a link where you purchased yours?
