    Correction.. Yahoo outgoing mail server is smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

    I think it is SSL compatibility. I tried a test mail with smtp.verizon.net and mail.smtp.yahoo.com and with SSL settings they hang the program and eventually time out.

    Unchecking SSL and changing the port to 587 (or 25) fixes the problem. However some mail providers are now insisting on SSL.
